Dr. W. F. Hyer
Dr. W. F. Hyer was also a pioneer physician of Marshall County, MS. He was born 24 Mar 1839 in Summerville, TN and died 18 Nov 1897. He served as surgeon of the Second Mississippi under General Alcorn during the Civil War. He lived near Hudsonville and then moved to Holly Springs in 1883. He represented Marshall County in the State Legislature from 1872-1873 and as State Senator for his district from 1882-1884. He served as president of the State Board of Health from 1888-1889. |
